Concert Bio is a venture-backed early-stage startup. We aim to transform humanity’s broken relationship with the world’s microbial communities. We are a building a platform to optimise real world microbiomes, combining monitoring, “probiotic” development, and environmental interventions.

We’ve started by transforming microbiome management in hydroponic agriculture - greenhouses, vertical farms, and space missions. Hydroponics is revolutionising agriculture, enabling it to survive climate change and sustainably feed the world. However, plants have evolved to rely on soil microbes over millions of years. That relationship becomes even more important when those soil microbes are removed. We develop products enabling hydroponic growers to give the right microbes back to their plants. Our pilot is already used by leading greenhouse growers across Europe.

We’re building a team of people passionate about solving this problem, and excited about the personal development opportunities that only a startup can provide. Our office and lab are based in London, at the Imperial College Translation and Innovation Hub. Our plant research facilities are based in Penryn (Cornwall) and at the Warwick University Innovation Campus.

Hiring process

If we think we might be a good fit for you based on your CV, we’ll start by setting up an informal 30 minute chat online. We like to find out what motivated you to apply to Concert Bio specifically, and what makes you interested in joining an early stage biotech startup. This is also a chance for you to ask any questions you have about us - don’t be shy.

If you’re excited and we’re excited after that informal call, we may invite you to take part in a technical assessment (role dependant) before we then set up a formal 1 hr interview. We like to do this in person where possible, and ideally have you meet the team. Expect to receive technical questions ahead of this so we can gauge your ability to do the job, and an exploration of what you’re looking for out of your career (and even life generally!). We typically make a decision within a week of this interview.
